Tarascon Adult Emergency Pocketbook

The Tarascon Adult Emergency Pocketbook is the "little everything book"! Every intern should have it in their pocket. This is not just for ER but I use it as nights house officer and when in the clinic.  Great little everything book!

T. Sheridan

Everyone HAS to have a copy of the Tarascon Adult Emergency Pocketbook in their pocket in the ER. The antibiotic section is so helpful.

Alison Couturier

It is amazing how such a small book could contain such a collection of vital and important information that you might need while practicing in the shift. The classifications presented in the Tarascon Adult Emergency Pocketbook for different scales, criteria, and classes of diseases is absolutely great. I cannot imagine my shift without this book. A definite five star item.

Anas Fouad Ali Hamam

The Adult Emergency Pocketbook has been very useful on the several occasions when I needed a quick reference for patient management issues, particularly for urgent ongoing diabetic care. Service of the purchase (pricing, delivery, integrity of product) were all at the usual excellent quality I've come to expect.

Tarascon Adult Psychiatrica

This is the best book for psychiatric residents or clinicians doing psychiatric consults or inpatient work to carry. It covers an immense amount of material.  The chapters are stripped down to the most important, relevant points of almost every topic in psychiatry. The format takes some getting used to, as the typeface is small and the material is presented in a shorthand, abbreviated way. I would recommend it to any mental health professional who wants a quick, portable reference for evaluating and treating most psychiatric illnesses and disorders.

Doody's Review - 4 Stars!

Best resource book available!  Not only tells meds/dosages/side effects/etc.  Also, goes into mental status exam, DSM criteria, questions to ask certain patients when determining diagnoses.  Awesome!

Tarascon Clinical Review Series: Internal Medicine

“This is an extraordinarily practical book. While there have been a number of these types of books published by various residency programs, they have tended, like medicine itself, to add information and grow proportionally. This first edition takes a fresh look and refines the bank of knowledge to the central core, keeping the book small enough to be easily carried. I highly recommend this to house staff…for a broader perspective of medicine.”

Tarascon Emergency Department Quick Reference Guide

The pocket handbook I used in the past did not have nearly as much information as this one does on diagnostics, the physical examination, etc., as this does.  This book does a good job of condensing the information.

4 Star Review - Doody's Book Review

A very brief synopsis of the important things needed for emergency medicine. Fits in most white coats very well. I recommend this for EM residents or students interested in emergency medicine.

Tarascon General Surgery Pocketbook

"This is a well-organized, quick reference covering a wide array of facts and techniques useful in the practice of general surgery. It is a perfect book for medical students on their clinical rotations or surgical residents in the clinic or on the wards."

"I would highly recommend this book to all incoming surgical residents to use as their guide and even as a quick ABSITE review as it is much better than many of the other pocket books I have seen."

David L Ring, MD

"I just finished my M3 surgery rotation. This book was very helpful to read (along with Surg Recall) prior to surgery. It helped with the anatomy, indications, etc. for the procedure. Would recommend for any M3 or M4 interested in general surgery."

Tarascon Hospital Medicine iPhone & iPad App

Tarascon Hospital Medicine App is a must have as reference or just pleasure reading. Read it anywhere, any room, any time of day. Even while watching Scrubs. Just don't forget to buy it.

hiroprotagonistMD

I have the Tarascon Hospital Pocketbook and when I saw this app I was thrilled.  One less book in my white coat!  You definitely want this with you if you practice hospital medicine.  It is amazingly comprehensive yet free of non-essentials.  It also has a critical care section with all the "must know" topics.  Very up-to-date and evidence based.  If I could give it 10 stars, I would.

S. Kang, MD

As with the Pocketbook, the Tarascon Hospital Medicine App brings up to date clinical information to your fingertips.  Well organized and easy to use reference for hospitalists, residents and medical students.  Highly recommended!

AGC, MD

The iPhone version of the Tarascon Hospital Medicine Pocketbook is great as it allows me to quickly find the reference material I'm looking for.  I'm still amazed by the volume of information Dr. Esherick was able to pack into a small book, and now a small, low priced app.

Bill S.

Every time I refer to the Hospital Medicine App, I am impressed and surprised by the amount of practical information, with differentials, clinical risk predictors, validated decision-making algorithms, management guidelines, practical pointers, updated references, etc.  Overall, highly recommended.

J. Donalds

Same as always, another true, 'it knows what you are looking for' quick reference from Dr. Esherick.  Lots of simple and clear charts. Updated clinical information. Automatic App updates. Nice layouts and not cramped.  Well designed. To-the-point answers to common questions. A definite helpful tool in aid of your clinical decision making.

Tarascon Medical Procedures Pocketbook

The guidance given in this book is excellent.  Not only is it a good review for procedures not done in awhile, but it also acts as a go-to source for last-minute reminders of details needed to perform a procedure expeditiously.  I no longer need to rely on my fading notes or fallible memory when it comes to performing a procedure correctly.

Carolyn Morris, MD

Santa Paula Hospital Clinic, CA

Dr. Esherick’s procedure book is an extremely valuable tool for interns new to the wards or more seasoned providers who just what a quick review prior to performing a procedure they may not have done in a while. It provides a clear and concise review of almost any procedure you may have to do in the course of taking care of patients.

Dr. Esherick's quick reference pocketbooks raise the bar for excellence and ease of use.  Highly recommended!

I keep Dr. Esherick's pocket guide with me all the time. It's a convenient and invaluable resource for the management of the myriad of ailments that we encounter as family physicians.

Tamajah Gibson, MD

Dr. Esherick's textbooks are an incredibly helpful guide for the busy family physician.  He organizes an incredibly wide scope of knowledge into clear and helpful bullets that can be quickly reviewed between patients.  Information is up-to-date and evidence-based.  I highly recommend his texts for the residents I supervise and to any provider involved in primary care.

Jon Yoshiyama, MD

Dr. Esherick's previous pocket references on Hospital Medicine and Primary Care have proven to be invaluable to me over the years. The Medical Procedure Pocketbook is a welcome addition to this series. A time-saver for when physcians have little time--which, as we know, is all the time.  Dr. Esherick has written a number of these condensed references, and they're all terrific. If you have to handle a wide variety of situations on the fly, you definitely want him in your pocket.

Junedale Nishiyama, MD
Hilo, Hawaii

I highly recommend this book for house staff and students on clinical rotations. It has tremendous teaching value for those just beginning their careers and provides students an outstanding perspective about what the attending physicians are doing at a time when they have not yet formed the mental images that they will need in the future.

Tarascon Pain Pocketbook

"This book covers evidence-based prescribing for treating pain arranged by body systems. It is unique because it is formatted in the well-known Tarascon classic format -- small, concise, but comprehensive.

The purpose is to provide a reference for practice and teaching. The author has a rich background in teaching and emergency medicine. As the author states, this book may not have been pertinent 20 years ago, but now the depth and breadth of the information collected is essential to the practice of emergency medicine. The worthy objective was clearly met.

The author implies the book is written for emergency medicine providers, and it certainly meets that need. Nurse practitioners and medical students also could benefit from the reference.

The highlight of the book is the first chapter covering principles of safe and effective emergency department pain management. Subsequently, the book covers specific medications to treat pain using the body system approach. The unique feature is the size. The shortcoming of the book is the lack of references, but, as the author states, it is the reference.

This is a necessary and useful book for all emergency care providers. It is one of a kind."

The Pediatric Outpatient Pocketbook is a thorough review of pediatrics in a concise format. It is easy to read and intuitive in its use. As a family physician resident, I wonder how I got so far along without it. Harriet Lane is great, it just doesn't fit so nicely in my coat's pocket.

"The content of this book is fantastic, and for my level of training, it had more comprehensive useful information (particularly in child development) than even some of the major child and adolescent psychiatry textbooks. Tarascon Pharmacopoeia iPhone & iPad App

The content of the Tarascon Pharmacopoeia iPhone App is excellent. Certainly better than the free options. Probably my first choice, above even some choices that cost $100+

All pharmacists need at least 2 drug databases to make sure they have the latest info. The Tarascon Pharmacopoeia application is a must.

- M. Garcia

I'll go ahead a call The Tarascon Pharmacopoeia the best pharmacopoeia on the iPhone. Worth the price and the wait. I've purchased the print version of this every year for a little less price, but this is faster and has more info.

Couldn’t get through my day without the Tarascon Pharmacopoeia iPhone App. I have been using Tarascon for over 15 years & feel this is the best value out there for real providers prescribing in a busy practice.  I use this ap dozens of times per day.  Highly recommended.

I've relied on the Tarascon Pharmacopeia for years. I think the free apps are great for a second reference, but not as a primary one. I wouldn't take any chances on prescribing medication with a name that isn't recognized. The Deluxe version is simply excellent and worth the investment for your patients.

- Jasper MD

The Tarascon Pharmacopoeia is fast and concise. Perfect for my needs. The price of the app is little in comparison to its utility and my own confidence in the information it provides.  Five star tool!

"I'm a hospitalist and this little book packs a punch! A LOT of info in less than 400 pages. Much of the book is over my head; ie, intended for cardiologists but it is worth it.  And finally! A book with 2010 AHA ACLS Guidelines.  Recommend highly."

Tarascon Pocket Orthopaedica

I got the Tarascon Pocket Orthopaedica about a year ago as a gift, and I have really gotten a lot out of it. It's filled with very useful information, and it'll save your neck on a daily basis, at least. Ever since I got it, many of the other residents in my hospital have been buying it, and the consensus is that it can make your life a whole lot easier.  It's a tool no ortho resident will want to go without (and probably many attendings, as well).

My orthopaedic rotation was only 5 weeks long (PA Student), nonetheless, the Tarascon Pocket Orhopaedica was invaluable to me. It was in my lab coat as long as I was wearing it. I just love the way it puts it all together concisely and in an organized manner.

"[The Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia 2014 Disease Edition] has much to offer physicians choosing a medication, particularly when treating patients with comorbid conditions or when previous prescriptions have failed or are otherwise unacceptable. I use the Tarascon Primary Care iPhone App frequently and definitely recommend it to any physician, resident, or med student looking for a good quick-reference/memory-jogger.

Dr. Esherick has an amazing ability to organize up-to-date and evidence-based medical information for a wide range of topics in a powerfully succinct manner. All that you need to know in concise charts, lists, and tables. Very easy to navigate. The Primary Care Pocketbook App is a must have for a clinician in primary care.

I have used the Tarascon Primary Care Pocketbook for years and it held a spot in precious white coat pocket space. I am delighted to be able to free my pocket and carry it on my iPhone now. I love my iPhone and I have a lot of great medical apps, but this is one of the best!

This iPhone App version of the Tarascon Primary Care handbook is easy to use. Succinct descriptions of medical conditions at your fingertips. It is a great support tool when you are looking for a quick reference on a topic while "on the fly".

The App is a decent representation of the Primary Care Pocketbook.  I find the index to be especially thorough.  I think with all these pseudo medical references in the App Store, you can't beat the reputation of the Tarascon series.  I don't mind paying more for information that I trust to treat my patients.

Jasper, MD

The Tarascon Primary Care App is so easy to use and well organized!  This is perfect for both outpatient and inpatient medicine.  This app is a bargain compared to other similar apps and I haven't had any problems with bugs or crashes.  All medical professionals should highly consider this app.
